SNAPSHOTS II | 2005 - 2011
“SNAPSHOTS”, an ongoing series, takes its title from a collection of short stories of the same title by Alain Robbe-Grillet. The brevity or absence of narrative, and the essentially descriptive character of the stories suggest a series of isolated and de-contextualized observations.
Characteristic of the genre, these snapshots record a tourist’s rather undisciplined attraction to fragments of the familiar and the exotic. They note a desire to assume a privileged view, a desire to witness an exquisite alignment or co-incidence.
Individual titles note the location of each subject. Street titles identify sites in Rome.
